Strong Is The New Skinny is more than just Rachel’s motto; it’s what transformed her mindset towards her training. Through strength training, she discovered the confidence, empowerment, and fulfilment that comes from feeling strong and capable, rather than striving to be smaller. In the process, she let go of the belief that beauty was defined by being thin, and instead embraced the idea that true confidence comes from strength, both physically and mentally.
Her mission is to help more girls and women do the same, by shifting their focus from becoming smaller to becoming stronger.
Growing up, I was definitely not the sporty kid. I couldn’t catch a ball, struggled to understand game rules, and often felt out of place during sport and P.E. I didn’t have the highest self-esteem, and as I moved through late primary school into high school, I began comparing myself to other girls around me. I remember noticing my stomach wasn’t as flat as theirs, and I became increasingly insecure about my body.
Before I ever stepped foot into a gym, my “training” consisted of at-home YouTube workouts and running laps around the block... we’ve all started somewhere. I would clear space in the lounge room, push the lounges aside, and put on dance workouts or a “10-minute ab workout”, which by the way, if abs were built in ten minutes, everyone would have them.
In 2021 I joined Jetts Gym in Ballina as a member. I was incredibly anxious walking into a gym environment because I didn't really know what I was doing. I even used to set alarms to train late at night so nobody else would be there, but of course I chose sleep over a 2am training sesh.
In 2023 I decided to fully commit to fitness and pursue a career as a Personal Trainer. I bought a new laptop, invested in a coach to mentor and guide me, and immersed myself in learning everything I could about training, fitness, and the industry. Over time, the anxiety I once felt around the gym slowly disappeared. I began taking my training more seriously, discovered a new level of physical and mental strength, and built the confidence I never thought I'd ever have.
What started as training purely for aesthetics eventually evolved into a genuine passion for strength, resilience, health, and challenging myself. In 2025 I joined a CrossFit gym to further expand my knowledge and continue growing as both an athlete and a coach. I also began studying my university degree, a Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Nutrition), to further my knowledge in nutrition in order to give in depth nutritional guidance to my clients, and to extend & enhance their health holistically.
The quiet, timid girl from school would hardly recognise the woman she's become today. From feeling anxious about stepping into a gym, to working in that same gym, and helping other women overcome the exact challenges she once faced.
Now, my passion is helping women build confidence, discover their strength, and become unrecognisable to the version of themselves that once doubted what they were capable of.

No. Rachel has coached men, women, and teens of a variety of ages and different skill & strength levels.
This includes in-school gym training, online coaching, group fitness classes, and face to face training, from ages 13 to over 60.
Whatever the goal both males and females are welcome aboard The Rach Train's coaching services!
